Ms. Amrit Das is a Fashion Designer and Academician with an experience of 27 years comprising of Industry and Academics as a Senior Faculty with a premier Design Institute in New Delhi. She has more than two decades of experience as an educator and has handled key Academic and Administrative responsibilities as Head of the Department. She has mentored many students at both UG & PG levels in Fashion Design Process, Textile Science, Fabric Construction, History of Fashion, Design Research, Material Research, Pattern Making & Garment Construction, Fashion Merchandising, and Graduation Projects. She has completed her Undergraduate and Post Graduate degrees in Textiles & Clothing from Lady Irwin College, the University of Delhi with First Division & First Rank in DU. She was awarded the prestigious National Scholarship under National Scholarship Scheme 1994-95 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, GOI, for obtaining First rank in B. Sc. H. Sc. Hons., in Delhi University. Her paper publications include “Removal of Silk Wax using Lipase Enzyme: Few Experiments” Published in Colourage, the Year 1996. Another paper titled “Design of Ergonomic Garments for Elderly Indian Women” was published in the Research Journal of Textile & Apparel, Vol 17, No.3, the Year 2013. Her Key Areas of Interest are, Revival & Contemporizing of Traditional Indian Crafts & Textiles, Innovative Surface Design, Socially Responsible and Sustainable Fashion, Upcycled & Recycled Fashion, AI & IoT for Design, and Digital Fashion Design.
