Launch of “Uttarakhand Cap” by Honorable Chief Minister

The students of Graphic Era Hill University, Department of Fashion Design have taken a unique initiative. Cap signifies an individual’s identity and also represents the culture and heritage of the state or a region. The University’s students felt that the people of Uttarakhand wear a variety of caps but like other states; the state of Uttarakhand does not have its own authentic cap. This “Uttarakhand Cap” is an innovative initiative by the students to represent the honour and traditional values of the residents of the state. The cap has been designed by the students of the Department of Fashion Design under their brand SWAYAM. The richness of this tradition in the cap is signified by the use of indigenous handloom silk fabric. Embroidered band is inspired from the region’s beautiful Aipan Art and colourful stripes from the state bird Monal, state tree Rhododendron, Kumaon Regiment and Garhwal Rifles. Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat launched the “Uttarakhand Cap” on February 1, 2019 at the Secretariat.
