To celebrate International Seed Day & International Millet Year, a two-day Biodiversity Convention on Seed, Soil, and Millets in collaboration with Mount Valley Development Association was inaugurated at Prof. K. P. Nautiyal Auditorium, Graphic Era Hill University on 25th April 2023. The convention was graced by some eminent personalities and social activists from various fields such as Mr. Vijay Jardhari, Mrs. Binita Shah, Mr. Avtar Singh Negi. Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor, GEHU, Prof. (Dr.) J. Kumar, Prof. (Dr.) H.N.Nagaraja, Director General, GEHU and Prof. (Dr.)
R. Gowri, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, GEHU as well as scientists from prestigious organisations including G. B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology were also present.
The inaugural session was followed by a series of presentations highlighting the status report & overview on seeds, soil, and millets. In the next session, a discussion on roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders in reference to the Biodiversity Convention was held. With this, the first day of convention came to an end with a mesmerizing cultural program showcasing the rich culture and traditions of Uttarakhand.
