The Department of Fashion Design at Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun, recently organized two significant educational trips for its students, providing them with valuable exposure to India’s rich craft and textile heritage. The first trip was to AIACA-CCRAFTKATHA at Gandhi Samiti and Darshan Samiti, New Delhi. AIACA (All India Artisans and Craftworkers Welfare Association) is dedicated to preserving and uplifting traditional Indian crafts. The students from semesters II, IV, and VI had the opportunity to explore ‘Handmade in India’ products crafted by skilled artisans. This visit was highly educational, giving students a comprehensive understanding of India’s craft heritage and the importance of protecting the ‘Made in India’ legacy. The special presentation session arranged by Mrs. Meenu Chopra, Executive Director of AIACA, and her team provided invaluable insights and guidance throughout the trip. The second trip was to ‘Bharat Tex 2024, the World’s Largest Global Textile Event’ at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the event featured 3,500 exhibitors and participants, including top brands and retailers from around the world. The students from semesters II, IV, VI, and VIII experienced the grandeur of India’s textile industry and its global potential. The exhibitions, knowledge sessions, thematic discussions, and G2G and B2B meetings offered a comprehensive learning experience about the textile sector’s capabilities on the global stage. These educational trips significantly enriched the students’ understanding of India’s crafts and textiles, aligning with Graphic Era Hill University’s commitment to providing practical, industry-relevant education.
