Boosting Public Confidence in Pharmacovigilance Program

School of Pharmacy, Graphic Era Hill University Dehradun, organized a program with the theme “Boosting Public Confidence in Pharmacovigilance” on 22nd September 2023. This program featured a series of activities that included ADR awareness program done by the Pharmacy students and the expert session by Dr. Ravi Kant, Senior Consultant, RWE, Noida. He is a renowned personality in the field of Pharmacovigilance and Clinical trials. In this session he covered the topic that includes the fundamentals of Pharmacovigilance, adverse event reporting, signal detection, and regulatory aspects. This event was followed by ADR awareness campaign by the students in the residential areas surrounding, Graphic Era Hill University. The motive of these events fully justified the current theme of Pharmacovigilance week 2023.

During the expert session, Dr. Ravi Kant provided a thorough overview of pharmacovigilance, covering its fundamentals and the critical processes involved. He discussed the importance of adverse event reporting, explaining how accurate and timely reporting contributes to patient safety and drug efficacy. Additionally, Dr. Kant delved into signal detection, highlighting the methods used to identify potential safety signals from reported data. He also touched on the regulatory aspects of pharmacovigilance, emphasizing the roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders in ensuring drug safety and compliance with legal standards.

Following the expert session, the pharmacy students took to the residential areas surrounding Graphic Era Hill University to conduct an ADR awareness campaign. This outreach activity aimed to educate the community about the importance of reporting adverse drug reactions and the role of pharmacovigilance in safeguarding public health. The combination of expert knowledge and community engagement activities fully justified the current theme of Pharmacovigilance Week 2023, emphasizing the critical role of pharmacovigilance in public health. By boosting public confidence and awareness in pharmacovigilance, the program aimed to foster a more informed and proactive approach to drug safety among both healthcare professionals and the general public.
