Dr. Vishal Chauhan is an accomplished Assistant Professor with a Ph.D. qualification and an impressive decade-long journey in the realms of research and teaching. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun since 2021, he has also held the position of Scientist-B at the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology from 2013 to 2021. Dr. Chauhan’s expertise lies at the intersection of Space Science, Earthquake Precursory Research, and Electromagnetic Geophysics. A remarkable achiever, he was instrumental in pioneering India’s first State-of-the-Art Multi-Parametric Geophysical Observatory for earthquake precursory research, situated in the challenging terrain of Ghuttu in the north-west Garhwal Himalaya. His research pursuits have taken him to various remote and high-altitude Himalayan regions including Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, contributing significantly to the field. Notably, he was awarded a prestigious Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) fellowship at Chiba University, Japan, and received grants to attend international workshops in France and Singapore. During his Ph.D., Dr. Chauhan received prestigious fellowships under various projects of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Ministry of Earth Science (MoES), Government of India, New Delhi, further highlighting his dedication to advancing scientific knowledge in collaboration with governmental bodies. He had the privilege of working under the expert mentorship of Prof. Birbal Singh, a distinguished figure recognized for his pioneering contributions in the field of seismo-electromagnetics, including a notable invitation by the former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, to Rashtrapati Bhawan. His extensive publication record, including 32 research papers in peer-reviewed journals, solidifies his stature as a distinguished scholar in the domain.
